How good at Kwik Fit for A/C Regas?

Simple as the title says. I suspect i have a leak as my aircons gone from working to nothing in matter of weeks and the diagnostics on it was saying underpressure so the switch is cutting it out.

Going to see if its worth taking it to kwik fit and letting them have a pop at sorting it and iv seen there no fix no fee service as they wouldn't be able to get it 10 degrees cooler if it was leaking :')

Advice or any experiences?
 
Kwik Fit will pressure test it before they re-gas it (which is what everywhere must do) and if it doesn't hold pressure the system won't attempt to put the gas back in.

If the system won't re-gas it, they won't charge you - and if they do re-gas it and it doesn't "fix" the issue then you probably have an expensive issue.

From what you have posted, you know you have a problem that a simple re-gas isn't going to solve so I would take it to a proper indi that has specialist A/C knowledge or a main dealer.
 
Well i don't know this is the thing.

Iv pressure tested the system using dealer tools (good having some pals at dealer) and its 150Kpa and underpressure. Obviously ambient at sea level is 101Kpa approx and i am at sea level living in grimsby :') So if its just dropped totally underpressure or has a leak im really unsure

And i believe it should be around 210Kpa?

I don't even know what car you have let alone the specific low-side and high-side pressures of your particular system.

I know that all Kwik-Fit do is plug your details into the machine, hook it up and hit go. If your A/C pressure has deteriorated rapidly then you might well be wasting your time with a re-gas because even if it does pass the pressure test (maybe the leak is a pinhole leak or something like that) it is probably just going to all leak out again.

In short, I suppose there is no harm giving it a go but I'd rather just give my car to someone capable of actually identifying and fixing the issue rather than the monkeys at Kwik-Fit.

Yeah this was my thoughts if its worth spending the extra and going to an indi to get it fully checked out
 
They will attempt to regas it, if the system won't let them (pressure test fails or such) they will offer to do a diagnosis for you at a lower price than the regas, or you can walk away paying nothing.
 
Check amazon local they have ats offer for 33 quid! They will pressure test too and that includes regass and anti bac clean

I assume you used OFN (oxygen free nitrogen) to pressure test?

If you did do it the naughty way then ambient temperature will have a impact on pressure being read.

Standing pressure is hard to gauge the amount of refrigerant in the system, you need to run the AC and check pressures and
temperatures.
