I'm looking to retire my mountain bike of over ten years as its got a bit rickety and well past its best. Budget is around £300 and looking at Halfords it looks like that pretty much leaves you with a Carrera. Does anyone have any experience of how good / bad they are? I could up my budget if I thought it was worth it. I don't do anything too taxing, mainly countryside tracks, bashing through the woods etc. But would prefer it to last a while.
How good / bad are Carrera bikes?

Not really, I'm in Leeds and the nearest one is Sheffield according to their website. I see they only seem to sell B'TWIN bikes, are they recommended? Can't say I've ever heard of them.
