As the question is above, how good is actually the Beats headphones? Some people seem to think they are the best thing ever happened sound wise in the world. Others say they are much overrated and mostly rip off priced for the quality you actually get.
Just want to hear your experiences with the Beats.

-Morons with congenital hearing deficiencies

Others say they are much overrated and mostly rip off priced for the quality you actually get.

-People who can hear. Listen to these people.

They were selling these for 15 euro a pair in Crete last week which is still a rip off. If you want decent headphones go for a proper hifi brand not some fashion phones who spend all their money on advertising and endorsements instead of r&d and build/sound quality.

I doubt very much whether they were the genuine article and as they were likely fakes, they would have almost certainly sounded better :D

When I was still involved in audio people were a little dismayed by the then new Beats headphones, and it is galling to know how successful they have been.
You can certainly do better in terms of audio quality for the money.

You do realise they are fakes?
However they could be better than the real thing.
I watched a bloke pull his new fake Beats headphones out of the box in Kos and they fell apart :)

I do believe they had one model about a year ago that did actually get good reviews.

Beats is the equivalent of iPhone in the headphone market (Beats is also owned by Apple), whilst it is not "completely" awful, people pay out much more for the branding rather than performance.

A lot of the clones of headphones like that use a clone of Takstar Pro drivers which by all reports isn't that terrible - probably better than the real driver in many ways.

The question should be "How good are Beats headphones?" and the answer is not very. I have Jaybird Freedoms and they sound amazing, nicely balanced sound and not too heavy on bass. The build quality is very good and they are light and discrete and last for many hours on a single charge. I think the x3 is the latest model and they have had good reviews.

Having not spent much time with any I can't say. Only thing I do notice is it seems the in thing to do by putting them down all the time by audio 'enthusiasts'.
Much like you see when people argue about apple Vs android.

I'm not talking about the sum of it's components. In that respect you could argue most things are over priced. I'm talking purely about those who jump on the bandwagon without ever testing them the same way they would other headphones.
I just jumped on head-fi and lo and behold there are people raving about various models who also own 'audiophile' headphones. As one review title said, "It's simply popular to hate Beats".

I don't take much heed of review, less so for audio equipment, too many factors.

Disclaimer: Never listened to a pair.

I agree but I'm pretty sure when they first came out the audiophiles were listening and slated them.

Another reason I don't bother with audio reviews is that someone can profess to be an audiophile because they have a pair of Audio Technica headphones and an amp.
