I have been out of the loop for some time and was wondering how good my current cpu is #

Q9650 @ 3.6ghz will do 3.8ghz

how much faster are the new i5 / i7 cpus?
 
interesting the only real big benefit is video encoding then and If I am doing any of that I don't care if it takes 2 mins or 10 really.
