Until a few days ago I was still a Creative fan.
Then I decided to install the latest drivers for my X-Fi ExtremeGamer and now I am no longer a fan.
No matter what I do I just get a constant "static" noise from my speakers.
The issue is detailed on the Creative forums, there are apparent "fixes" listed but I can't get any of them to work for me.
It was then I got to thinking.
I'm running the Gigabyte P35-DQ6.
This has the ALC889A sound chipset on - as this is quite a premium motherboard I find it hard to believe they have gone totally cheap on sound.
So how does the ALC889A compare to something like the X-Fi ExtremeGamer?
Because there seems to be a nice stable Vista64 driver for this chipset that doesn't result in constant static.
Oh and I could get away from Creative who I feel I've defended for long enough.
