How hard to change a spring yourself?

Hi,

Found out whats wrong with the banging I am getting in my Focus. It is the front left spring that has snapped. Now how hard is it to change a spring? Should have access to a spring compressor.

Was looking at a Sealey spring compressor like this.

Hmm I'll have to look in my Haynes. Anyone have a rough idea how much a garage will charge?

Decided to go garage. Only £20 more to use them. Especially when I don't have that much time I don't mind spending the extra. If I had more time I'd have definitly done it.
