for the makers to take a best selling game for the ps2 (e.g Silent hill 2, metal gear solid 2) and convert it to run on a ps3.. God of war makers did it with 1 and 2 to great effect!! I would love to be able to play SH2 and MGS2 again in HD!
If it doesnt take too long surely it seems a good idea? they release old games (mega drive collection) which i dont imagine have that much pulling power compared to a metal gear or a silent hill classic! I know for sure id buy it! WHOS WITH ME!
Ive even tryed a ps2 emulater which works fine on my pc.. except for input lag which makes it hardly playable :(

It would be harder than you imagine (I would think).

If it was so simple I believe they would have been able to just emulate the game but the PS3 (now and anything other than the older 60GB models) don't have the hardware inside for the PS2 games and the software emulation is evidently not good enough or they would still offer it.
Then if you want it in HD, depending on the game it may require having to redo most of the textures throughout the game.

Well there seems to be quite a bit of noise coming for these HD remakes, sly cooper hd is coming out this year with all the Slys upgraded to HD. You also have reports if PoP, Splinter Cell and Team ICO games having a remake, with MGS though it would be upto konami to start the ball rolling.

Never had any input lag problems with a PS2 emulator before, the games look so much better than they did being played on my old 60Gb PS3

Use an emulator if you have the disc?
Some people have input lag (like my self) :(

I guess so :( was hopeing it would been easier! lol Ive seen people make there own texture mods for games like oblivion. Transforming the lanscapres into HD and it looking good (not amazing but a lot better):( ah well
