a mate of mine sent those pictures to my mobile, a builder is coming round to his house to take it down in few hours

as you can see new wall. that's brand new kitchen extension with new roof, all completed few weeks ago

we're dedating if the pot fall down toward to the kitchen roof, will it goes right throu the roof or bound off the roof and crack few tiles. also, how heavy is that pot would be?

he's getting very very worried now lol

I bet you couldnt balance that up there like that if you tried!

It will be heavy (think a brick or few) and probably take out a few tiles, smashing itself to bits in the process... which is lucky as that will dissipate a lot of the energy.

Ninja...

It would more than likely go straight through the extension roof deponding on how well made it is (both the chimney and the extension roof).

they aren't "a brick or two" heavy, they are struggle to lift it up heavy

Totally agree- My Mum has a few large old chimney pots in her garden and they are seriously heavy, certainly a two man job to move any distance..that looks a quite a bit smaller than hers but will still weigh a lot more than you would think !

I'm guessing 20kg, what's the prize if we get it right?

Edit - had a good look at the picture with the window for scale so I've changed my guess :p

They are really heavy, I've got a couple of old chimney pots about that size in my shed. At a (very) rough guess I'd say about 40 - 50 pounds in weight. On top of that they are really awkward to pick up, even more so when you're up a ladder.

More than that, its probably 2 1/2 to 3 foot long and 1ft in diameter. Probably weighs in at about 40Kg.

As to the roof question I suppose it probably depends on how the roof was made, ie traditionally or using modern tecniques (ie proper beams or a load of small bits and pieces). If it was traditionally done the roof probably wouldnt be damaged, but a few tiles would be destroyed, if its modern style theres no telling. :p

Thanks for replies, I'm the guy with the horrible extension and a dangling pot on the roof as you can see lol.

The builder who did my extension is sending someone around today after I sent him mms pics of it so that's something & only charging me £40 to bring it down and make it safe which is very reasonable.

Must say I'm shocked at how heavy it might be and glad it ain't me going up there lol.

OH as for the extension, I've been meaning to brush it over with tea bag stains to offset the contrast between my house and the extension.

Assuming it is a modern roof I certainly wouldn't let anyone into the extension until its sorted

Exactly what I was thinking. That looks like a disaster waiting to happen, I hope the builder gets there sharpish.
