After much problems with BSOD in vista 64 and the 8800 GTs, i narrowed it down to the creative X fi sound card.

I have removed the card and no BSODS for the past 2 weeks.

Heres the link, seems its specific to 4 GB ram and Vista 64. Also didnt appear with my old ati card just the new GTS

Hopes this will help anyone with the problems that I've had.

There is an even better soloution, move back to XP and your X-Fi cans till be used, or use Vista 32bit.

While i agree there is a problem with many people running XFI and 4GB in Vista

I have it working great now after some initial trouble.

I was getting the infamous Crackling and Screaching on bootup and it would only go away by restarting the driver in control panel.

After Downloading the official creative ISO CD from a link in there forum, installing over the top of the latest drivers they have on their site. It now works perfectly

I never did get a BSOD anyway, but this one solved the above problem

I'm just about to get 2x 2gb (from 2x 1gb) and have an 8800gtx, V64 & an Xfi.
It currently works fine, will I definitely get the problem or is it just hit and miss?:)

Seems to be hit or miss, however In both x64 xp and vista I found installing the latest downloadable drivers and then the software disk over the top removed any problems I had.
