How I miss the old 8-bit games.

The move from 2d sprites to true 3d games was a logical progression. However I really miss 2d games, even the isometric 2d games had a certain flair. Anyone remember these classic games?

Sorcery
Barbarian
Head over Heels
Batman
Cauldron
Spindizzy

It would be great if they remade some of those old classics... I wonder why they don't? Spindizzy, Head over Heels and Batman would be excellent in true 3d on a XBOX360 or SLI rig.

I totally agree with you davecarter. By the time I have got to grips with the controls and gui on a modern 3d game I could have completed an old 8bit game... Where's the fun in learning an interface? Where's my 2 button microswitch joystick (remember those!)

Update: Playing Head over Heels right now. Really faithfull, and I just love the graphics and lighting. Seems wild playing a 8bit game in full colour with shadows and no slowdown when there are more than 3 sprites...

They really should remake some old 8 bit classics. Spindizzy is just asking for it...
