How important is a domain name in this day and age?

Very few casual internet users rarely goto a website via a URL nowadays. They simply use a search engine to do all their searching, even if searching for a URL:confused:

Would I be right in saying that SEO is more important than worrying too much about the actual domain name in the current age?

I would worry more about how brandable a domain is as opposed to worrying about SEO.

Back in the day, 'exact match domains' used to perform very well. You could literally register 'PlumberInLondon.com' and rank well for that term with very little effort. This however has changed greatly over the last few years, and it's much better to focus on a pronounceable, brandable domain name.
