How Important is a Garage?

How to make a small new build garage feel big, put an even smaller car in it. :p

Hard to tell from the photo but the car literally wraps around the centre supporting bricks that protrude.

It is all about wall mounting everything.

Seeing yours makes me want to pull my finger out and finish painting my walls and floor. I have only done 1 side. Looks really nice.

I have a compressor, engine crane, welder and 20 tonne press all tucked away in there plus a full array of tools. It is getting a bit cluttered and dusty as I was painting over summer on my daughters car. I think we will be moving in the next 2-3 years however and a double garage will be the bare minimum.

Needs a MOT mate

It has been sorn for a few years now :(. Paying for my daughters driving lessons/car and learning to fly has put it on the back burner unfortunately and in 2023 I kinda impulse purchased a GR86. Hopefully going to get back on it 2027 time. I could M.O.T it tomorrow but I want to do nut and bolt on it plus full respray.

Garage was a requirement when we bought this year along with a decent drive way, would never buy without one.
Same for us - my only prerequisite was a garage - when we viewed the house initially, it didn't have a garage, but we quickly worked out that we could put one in - so we did so within 6 months of moving in. I couldn't go without now - a passively heated, dry storage space for tools, equipment, bikes etc. Unfortunately not big enough for a car, but we have a decent enough sized driveway. If I intended on storing a car in it, I would have made it wider.

When we finally decide to move from our current house one of my pre-requisites will be a double garage.
Space for the car & my workshop area, wife's car can stay outside !

It was a quick and dirty job, I should have taken a pic of the garage before as it was basically a whole pile of junk with a small walkway through it.

Walls covered in a variety of left over white emulsions/matts, floor with a non expensive floor paint that took literately minutes to apply with a roller but has done a fantastic job of sealing the dust. Shelving is Twinslot and I grabbed leftover/damaged wardrobe panels from Ikea for the shelves. Everything else mounted to the wall with whatever hooks/brackets I had spare.

Also replaced the up and over door with a decent electric roller which has made a huge difference in keeping out drafts and freeing a lot more space within the garage.

Nothing major but wished I had done it years ago as its made the garage so much more useable.
