How important is brightness

I’m after a 27” IPS 2560x1440 for £250 or less.

I have seen one I like, it ticks all my boxes, the only slight concern is the brightness which they quote as 250 (minimum) and 300 (typical). This is lower than the competition, even those that are lower priced.

I do sense that this manufacturer might be more honest with their specifications, but still unsure whether I should be concerned with this lower brightness.

The other thing that confuses me is that guid3 say that maximum comfortable viewing should be around 120, so what is the benefit of monitors quoting brightnesses of 450 and higher?

I can only think that mainly it helps when you have a bright environment. A monitor with a low brightness level just isn't going to cut it. Might be ok in a darker room, which I guess is where guru3d suggesting 120 is comfortable?

Also higher nits is important for HDR and vibrancy.
