hi guys

My rig is :

E6420
2gb ram
7900gto 512

Would like to play 1680x1050 res - Hows it going to do?

As I understand, dx10 is the main killer?

Thanks guys :)

Not great, but thats the same with every system really :p

At that res, i'd run at medium with no AA for a "playable" frame rate.

You'll just have to try and see tbh. You'll definatly be able to play it! My mate completed it with a 7600GT, and a 3800x2. As for DX10, you need not worry about that, because i'm pretty sure the 7 series dont support it!

nah it don't mate - 8 series onwards :)

Turn off shadows and the clouds and you'll be fine - sure it won't be as immersive as a high end card but it's more than playable and still looks fantastic. Make sure you keep blur on though (postprocessing something or other) as it hides a lot of the frame rate dips.

I played it on a 3800+X2, 2GB and an X1800XT, so slightly worse than your rig but I did drop the res down to 1280x800 for a bit of a performance boost - you should be fine at 1440x though with your beefed proccy.

try 1440 for free AA....i would say post processing is a big no no...also make sure shadows are low.
i would sacrifice looks for framerates in that game as low fps do take the fun out of it(aim for atleast 25 in jungle areas).

Download the demo and give it a try, if it runs slowly don't buy the game till you got a new system. Although it was just about playable on my 7800gtx but at times it was worse than a slideshow.

I need a new gpu at somepoint in the future but I'll be damned if I am buying a new one just to make crysis run better. Oh and that using most setings at medium at 1280x1024.

I played it on my old AGP X800Pro and P4 3.40Ghz system. Used medium/low settings, played fine with good fps throughout. The game scales back quite nicely.

Use a custom config file though, you can get much better results than you can using the ingame menu :).

bad but if your cpu is overclocked over 3.4 and u play all setings on medium should be ok and you canot play in dx10 mode as your gpu does not supports it ;)

i'd say averagely if you put settings on medium/low

q6600
8800gt
8gb ram

was what i'd consider 'ok' at 1280x1024, in dx9, everything on high, besides shadows
