after i did the latest 360 dash update i tried to setup streaming from my pc to xbox. previously i was using zune software to stream mp3s but its so slow and is a terrible program to use.

i then tried to get hold of windows media connect but i found out that ms no longer support it. anyway i managed to a link to it and i installed it and i shared the relevant folders on my pc. however the only thing that the xbox will let me view are pictures. it wont see the pc when i try to stream mp3s or movies.

does anyone have any suggestions. i have heard that i can also use wmp11 or 3rd party apps like tversity?

thanks in advance.

Yeah WMP11 will do fine, still not as good as XBMC but it's very good for those that never kept the old Xbox :D

I kept it. But I can't bring myself to use it anymore.

The 360 does the job fine, The XBMC is just so much better. I hope to god Future updates bring the 360 closer

Yeah I could certainly get by with just the 360 now since the update, I still have room for my Xbox so will keep using it for now, plus can turn the fans right down so its pretty much silent, not sure if its slowly killing it though haha

I just moved to canada and got myself a 360 but it refuses to see my laptop and the laptop won't see the 360 over the network I've got it on. They won't even recognise the fact either of them are there. I've tried wmp11 and wmc2 that someone linked to in another thread which didn't see the 360 either.

It's really bugging me soooooo instead of me starting a new thread I thought if anyone can give me any ideas on how to fix it I'd be very thankful :D:D

I've even tried reinstalling wmp11 but no luck. :(

Excellent news, I will try it again. I did try to stream via WMP11 a month ago and couldn't get it to work..

WM11 has worked flawlessly since I started using it a while back. Great stuff :)
Havent really noticed much of an update though! bar the bio and rearanging of the dashboard.

Same here, even with firewall off and 360/PS3 on DMZ, still no joy on MP11 - the share never finds either console.

Ah well, OcUK will be sending me a nice 4Gb USB drive (soon hopefully), so I'll manually copy stuff I need :)

Scort.

My 360 wont connect to my PC anymore :/

Just says I must be behind a firewall, when I've changed no settings or changed my firewall.

DUMB!

I was using Transcode360 (must remember to thank him for his hard work) prior to the recent update. Now I've just setup WMP11 in Vista to monitor my key partitions and that's all. I never use the app one bit luckily.

having just moved to vista i shall now be using WMP11 to stream music and photo's to my 360. i have just one question....

do i have to have WMP11 loaded up and running in the background to stream the music or do i just have to point it in the direction of my music library, set up sharing and let it through my firewall?
