How is famous grouse?

I prefer it to Bells if they're the only two drinks in the pub. Can't remember Teachers, only time I had it I was already drunk.

If it's free though, you drink it. It's on the list of unwritten student laws :)

Alongside putting up with a social standing somewhere betwixt tramps and charvers?

Yuck. Once you've had a single malt you'll never touch the stuff again. The only time I consider a blend is with a mixer (coke, usually, and I don't even like that!), in which case, I'd rather have grouse than Bells.

In my almost obligatory post, Id just like to point out that there an awful lot of awful malts and some stonking blends out there, and that most people who go on about how bad blends are wouldnt be able to distinguish a good blend from a malt, and drink malt out of snobbery ;)

That said, Bells is the work of Satan himself

Better than Bells and Teachers but not as good as a single malt.

I don't agree with the Grouse is better than Bells brigade. I just don't think it has the same depth of flavour. It is creamier and in that respect easier to drink but it isn't a better flavoured whisky IMO.

That's a good point; I think most people who aren't whiskey connoisseurs but enjoy the single malts available on supermarket shelves would form their opinion on the blends available on the supermarket shelves, which are almost entirely the 'famous' brands, and quite horrible.

My favourite whiskey is definitely Islay's Lagavulin. :) mmmm

Scottish is horrible, irish all the way no harsh pette taste.

Irish has it's place yes but it's just an alternative like bourbon. You might as well be advising us to drink cider instead of lager tbh.
