a lot of them will be using 3d progs like Maya , Cinema 4d , 3ds Max.

(I've noticed a few of your questions about Photoshop in the siggy section.)

The 3d stuff requires a totally different type of software.

I have , and still use , Maya which produces some stunning results , as you will see on DeviantArt.

Dont try to compare the 2 types of software though. Unless you are a genius ( IMO ) very, very few people can create the sort of rendering quality with Photoshop that a 3D application can.

Hope this Helps.

Cheers,

Mark

These are very bad examples, but yes 3D applications were used to create all of them. I'm sure there's plenty of tutorials kicking around the net for this sort of stuff. If you want to take it seriously, buy a book or something.

all of them are 3d renders manipulated very heavily in photoshop. in most cases the render is extremely simple and just gets mirrored, rotated and pasted on top of itself multiple times before some airbrushing is applied on top.

if you ask me, its all a bit year 2000. vector abstract is the way to go these days :D

If you're determined to do things like this, then you couldn't do much better than to download Blender3d from www.blender3d.com

Free program, produces some incredible results (often better than the commercial stuff), and has some VERY VERY nice features, all for a mere 6Mb!

Learning curve is steep, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be making stuff like you've shown pretty easy.

First three are raytraced, last one looks cell shaded, 4th I don't know but probably vector art.

The first three aren't really that impressive, anyone with povray can make shiny balls and use a tribal texture map. The last one is impressive because of the sheer detail of it, cell shading in 3d still requires a massive amount of 3d modelling to represent something like this. 4th one looks like a lot of photoshop filters, layering and some vector art, but am unsure, but definately my favourite one.
