I've renting a place for a year and need an isp. Talk talk seem to be cheapest for my requirements- unlimited quota and calls and no tv or anything. Not massively bothered by speed as long as it is 10+mbps line and is £3.50 a month minus line rental.

Is the service good / reliable? I'll be connecting via Ethernet so the router crappiness isn't an issue issue.

I was going to go with Talk Talk myself. I goggled them and was put off by the amount of people who said their customer support was dire.

I used to be with Sky and their customer service is also bad. Went with BT in the end.

I'd pick Sky customer service over BT and TT any day of the week, Sky are bad but BT/TT are absolutely abysmal.

Best of the worst I guess.

Customer support is pretty bad. But then so is BT's for example. They are certainly no worse than any of the other largest players. The actual service is identical to any other unmanaged unthrottled ADSL2+ isp.

Worth the trade off in my opinion, how often do you really need technical intervention on an ADSL line? I have never needed anything in years. There is no point paying anything for ADSL any more.

I have people come to me every week with broadband issues - almost always talktalk users.

One guy has not been able to send email via talktalk for years - all settings correct and trecle checked by multiple people inc talktalk - he has to send via a gmail account.

Most come in with no internet or very slow internet and bring there pc/notebook as support at talktalk always blame either the pc or Microsoft.

Not a single pc has had an issue and all have connected to broandband and worled fine here.

Terrible service and terrible support.

One to avoid at all costs.

Terrible customer support.
A neighbour of mine has it.. Broadband cuts out at least once a day. Packet loss is insane from 6pm onwards, yet it was completely fine when they were on BT Broadband!

Thats a line issue, not a talktalk one. To say the issue wasnt there with BT Broadband is coincidence. A line cut out for example is nothing to do with the ISP.
