In our uni rooms, download speeds usually hover between 5000 and 8000kbps!!!
How on earth is their internet connection so fast?
8000kbps is only an 8 Meg connection.
Ahh, that makes sense.i didn't mean kbps I meant KB/s
No it's not, 8000KB/s is 64,000Kb/s.(or is it the same thing?)
8000kbps is only an 8 Meg connection.
What calculations did you do to derive that?If thats 8000kbps download speed, thatns actually 80mb internet, so prob 100mb
8×10, by the looks of it. More accurately would've been 8×8=64Mb. Still points towards a 100Mb connection though. What calculations did you do to derive that?
Why on earth would you times 8 by 10 to convert 8000Kb in Mb?8×10, by the looks of it. More accurately would've been 8×8=64Mb. Still points towards a 100Mb connection though.
x10 was incorrect. as I said, it should have been x 8.Why on earth would you times 8 by 10 to convert 8000Kb in Mb?
To go from Kb into Mb you devide through by 1024.
8000 / 1024 = 7.8125Mb - 8Mb
I don't know where you lads are getting 100Mb from.
The first 8 posts had already established it was 8000KB/s and not 8000kbps. I think we can excuse the typo. That wasn't what he originally said.
I said 8000Kb/s is an 8Mb connection. He (incorrectly) corrected me by saying 8000Kbps in a 100Mb connection, which of course is wrong.
There's a big difference between Kb abd KB.
Please read the tread properly. He was quoting me on something I said before we established we were talking in bytes. The first 8 posts had already established it was 8000KB/s and not 8000kbps. I think we can excuse the typo.
