I looking to speed about £500 for a basic system, future proofing as my AMD64 is showing its age and I want a smaller case.

Would the above overclock any or would the OcUK memory hinder me greatly?
Same question for the motherboard but I heard the P5K series is very good.

If anyone could reccomend a cheaper cooler or motherboard that offers good performance and stability it would be appriciated.

Very nice, the memory wont limit your overclock at all, tbh you dont need those speeds I'd get 6400 (800MHz) speed RAM.

The motherboard you chose is a P35 chipset motherboard and they all overclock well and their arnt many cheaper than the one you chose.

A cheaper cooler would probably be a ACF 7 Pro which is £17 inc VAT but i wouldnt recommend to cool an overclocked Quad although i dont really know how cooler these G0 steppings are, I'd stick with the TT.

Everything looks good in that spec, best staying with that cooler or you could get the Thermalright Ultra120 Extreme or Noctua HSF as these will be capable of keeping your quad core cool. It will overclock nicely especially as you have went with G0 stepping.

ocuk 8500 memory will be fine.

p35 mobo so it will do well.

as for the cooler, does a good job, highly recommended, so wouldnt think about changing it, as the quads have been known to run a tad warm, not sure if the energy efficient jobbies will reduce that or by how much.

Not worth changing it for anything cheaper being as u;re spending that sort of money on the processor.
