Primary use is for gaming, 1680x1050 resolution, i'll be using the GFX card in my sig. I have a retail copy of W7 that I can install.

I'm planning to overclock the chip and ram, i've deliberately chosen parts to dampen the sound on the system as much as possible.

I've got another £100 I can potentially spend. My first thought is possibly getting a higher end mobo, I will not be doing another system upgrade for 2 years minimum with the possible exception of ram/gfx card.

My second thought is maybe going for 4x4Gb of the samsung green ram, mainly because it's such high quality at a good price.

Looks good mate.
Although this TX V2 is not modular, it does have Seasonic internals and I think is better value. I have the 750w model in my Antec 280 and it is no problem not being modular, as I use most of the cables. And what I don`t use are hidden round the back.

OCUK have it described as a modular unit

Sell your 6970, keep your 2 x 500GB SATA Hard Disk Drives and don't get the 2TB drive + get a slightly cheaper case = more money towards better GPU?

Either way, it's a good system!

The TX750 V2 is not modular but the TX750M is semi-modular (ie 24 pin and 8 pin EPS are not removable (link)). I would just clarify with OcUK as to exactly which they stock.

Build looks good. Your 6970 should still hold up well at that resolution for a while yet, could even consider going Crossfire later on if you can pick one up for cheap.

With a decent budget as you have and potentially a good system my advice would be to really consider a monitor upgrade. No point in have great hardware if the IQ is pants. If budget is more strict then no need for such a high end motherboard where a cheaper one will be suffice and again no need to go for 16GB RAM for gaming.

Oh and finally I'd go for this cooler.

Thermalright Silver Arrow SB-E CPU Cooler

Not a bad spec at all.

I would say that the samsung RAM is an overspend. Although it overclocks well that makes very little odds on this socket. 1600MHz would do you just fine, maybe consider 16GB if you do any video editing etc.

The XFX modular PSU is silver rated (shame the 850W version is out of stock). The RAM is cheaper and still an excellent performer, note the lower CAS rating. The storage drive is faster not being an eco drive and the heatsink is better, although you will have to double check it fits as I am not familiar with the case you have picked.

Hope this helps, look forward to seeing what you settle on :)

P.S I would agree with my buddy Idleman that a new screen would be nice. My spec is a little cheaper than yours and if you have another £100 to invest then you could indeed get a 1080P monitor......remember you can still hook up your old one and dual screen :D

Even more confusion. I think you meant to say Shadow_boxer, mate, as it was his suggestion, not mine.

Yes quite right but we are all buddies here ;)

The OP spec'd a modular PSU, you have linked to a more powerful non modular unit (just to clear up the confusion). The XFX I used is modular and silver rated not bronze so is more efficient. If the OP isnt bothered about Xfire/SLI he could use say the 550W seasonic gold rated instead.
