How long before Console games have serial numbers to Activate/Play online?

With console piracy becoming more and more common, how long before the devs/publishers take action?

You dont even need to buy a 360 game to play it online, at least with PC's, you mostly need a valid serial to play on official servers.

There is still a strong market for second user PC games despite these things allready being in place.

Anyone think this is still likely anytime soon what with the Ubisoft DRM on the PC?
