When I got my new mobo the other day, I was quite surprised to still find a floppy connector and cable packaged with it.

Is there any use at all for floppy discs anymore? I can't think of anyone who uses them.

How long before they are gone from our lives for good?

Well I haven't used one for the better part of a decade now I would think, at least not in a personal capacity. It's hard to say how much longer they will be around, but I can imagine it may be as much as another 10 years before they disapear from the computing landscape entirely.

I still use them in the lab, we have archaic machines that run from a command line interface and the only way to get data off is with a floppy. It's a massive ball-ache.

Brings me back to the days of primary school where everyone had their own floppy disk the teacher kept locked in a box :D

Cant remember the last time I used one. I still have one in a draw just in case :p
