You should, yes. But for an altogether different reason!

I wouldn't worry about parts availability regardless of whether they survive. Even if supplies were exhausted (can't see that happening for a long time), there'd be a MASSIVE pattern parts market.

I can still get all the parts for my 400, and Rover aren't the most popular of cars. Original and pattern :)

Only for the mass workforce who will become jobless.

Lets face it, other than a few less common cars, the whole vauxhall range is pretty awful.

Granted the Insignia isn't that bad, but it has been too long coming and came after too many utter ****piles.

Not quite as bad as Rover managed, but along the same lines IMO, of constantly releasing utter trash into the market.
 
For the petrol head maybe, paradigm, but for perfectly normal ordinary people, VX's current range of cars is pretty good. There are absolutely no ugly ones, there are the VXR8 and the (admittedly not made anymore) vx220, the new insignia is pretty great, the astra isnt actually too bad, its not quite as good as a focus, but its pretty close. Corsa is perfect for what its designed for, pootling about town slowly and not rallied to within an inch to their lifes. cars are also fairly reliable, and parts are very cheap for them.

Well yea but aside from that it's always a shame to see a brand that has been round for so long declining and possibly going under.

But compared to its competition, the cars are wooly, badly made, poor quality, etc etc etc.

Ford's offerings at any market segment are better "normal" cars.

Total tripe..

The new Corsa was very well received, the Astra has always been seen as vying it out with the Focus (even if the Focus is a better drive etc, no review ever put the Astra down in the way this forum does), the Insignia is pretty much up their, and the Zafira, (again not as pin sharp to drive as an S-Max is highly is relatively well regarded by the press)..

Vx are still miles ahead of Seat/Skoda/All French/Korean etc...

However, be under no illusion, I agree that in the current climate, Ford/Volkswagen are in a better place and there really isn't room for Vx, even if we argue over how far away they are from those 2, they are the competition, and are better placed with their products!

Meh, I've been quite happy with my Astra to be honest, better looking than any Focus I'd have got for the money, and it's not given me any grief in the 4 months I've had it. I can accept the Focus is probably the better car overall, but there's not much between them that I could see.

Rubbish..

Show me one press review that compains about the poor build quality (relative to it's rivals), or the poor 'quality' (relative to it's rivals).

The only thing that is true, is that they lack the feedback of some of it's peers.. but as demonstrated time and time again, they are at least capable on a track (and usually more so then it's peers)..

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound so rude; I've just got rid of a Vectra that drove me to drink (and I nearly drove it off a cliff)!

The one I drove was a 2003 1.6, don't know the specifics.

For me it just lacked poke, felt so... numb and I suppose the interior was nice, that's about all that did it for me.

Maybe I drove a duffer then, but to get back in a 1999 Rover and breathe a sigh of relief shouldn't be normal :p

I agree on the whole, they are not bad cars.The hate for VX is getting a bit boring on OCUK tbh.

This I dont agree with, the Octavia is a much better car than the Astra, as was the Superb with the Vectra, the Seat offering, again are at the very least on a par.

Frogs, maybe, but only just, and the Koreans are catching up.Fast.
