How long before overclocking?

I've got my setup, hopefully, working now and I'm planning on doing a bit of overclock on it, not right to the max just a reasonable amount.

However, some people have said I should leave it a couple of weeks to let the thermal paste and stuff settle in. However, I'm a bit impatient and was wondering if I gave it a good blast of prime 95 or some folding to get the cpu working hard, would that do the same job?

Only a few pastes state that they require a bedding in period to acheive optimal results (Arctic Silver being one). As long as you monitor your temps to make sure they are acceptable then I see no reason not to start overclocking.
