How long (just a guess) do you think It will be until
every new title available on dvd Is available also on blu ray
at the same time including tv box sets ect ?

and yes I am getting bored waiting :D

a lot of new movies are now. dont hold your breath for tv box sets though

You can probably count the amount of box sets available on one hand dont you reckon James?

I have a grand total of TWO (out of 150+ BR), Damages with Glenn Close and a wildlife documentary (cant think what its called now) which I havent even watched most of yet lol

yes, there arent many. i guess planet earth counts? heroes...on hd-dvd. that'll be out on bluray soon, apparently. they are really the only ones i can think of. Band of brothers would (or should) be insanely good on bluray, judging by the quality of the dvd boxset. that'd be a good release. apparently it's in the works for later this year. thats seriously all i can think of lol

Have to say that I'm seriously unimpressed with the release schedule, but that's partly because I'm avoiding replacing SD-DVDs that I already own.
At least GT5 and Lego Star Wars help justify the PS3.

i still see it as an addition to dvd, rather than a replacement. i buy what i think would benefit from bluray the most on bluray, pick up the rest on dvd. works well for me, though i have to say ive been buying more blurays lately. i have a fairly good collection now:)

I know Season Two of Heroes is due out on BlueRay a month after the DVD boxset release (DVD is out 27th July, BlueRay is 25th August). Season 1 of Heroes is also due out on BlueRay on the 25th August.

Lost season 4 however only looks due out on DVD :(

I went into a high street retailer today and saw that they have hundreds of blu-rays and most of the chart dvds had the blu-ray version next to them.

The price on the high street is still ott imho theres no way im paying £21 for one bare bones disk but saying that when I bought my first ever dvds 9 years ago (I cant belive its been that long) a lot of them were bare bones disks which cost the same types of prices on the highstreet so prices should come down quite soon I should imagine.

Thanks James it was Planet Earth I was thinking of :)

It will be good to get both series of Hereos on BR - currently avoiding the second series as my recorder decided to mess up, so waiting for its release impatiently on BR (even though I know its 1/2 the length of the 1st series due to writers strike)

Pre ordered both Batman Begins and Transformers on BlueRay last night, got both on DVD but both films are so good they deserve the highdef treatment :p

Also finally pre ordered Cloverfield, not happy about it not being released till September though

Not every old VHS title is available yet on DVD...so it will be a long time before all DVD titles are available on Blu-Ray. Some of the companies that switched from HD (like Universal) are still dragging their heels over lists and release dates. And you can guarantee it will be several years before Lucas agrees to the Star Wars films going on BD - just as he held out first for Laser-disc then for DVD.

I'm mainly looking forward to Band of Brothers on bluray but have heard it wont be until late next year.

Actually the new Clone Wars film might well become a BR test release for the full Star Wars release (after all LF have now collected all the archive material together, which would have taken the time)
