I am just wondering if my Artic liquid freezer is ok to be left boxed for up to a year without any deterioration? I have heard reviewer saying the have a 4-5year life span due to evaporation etc but what if its left boxed?

As said, a year should be no problem.

Good question though. I don't think much coolant will evaporate from boxed unit. My guess is almost none. Coolers being used have shown high the heat of component the greater the coolant loss .. and shorter it's lifespan.

The liquid does evaporate, yes. In will reduce the lifetime of the cooler by one year IF the failure in the future is evaporation ( and it quite often is ) but there are other failures too, so really it's difficult to say. It's not ideal, but I suspect many shop bought coolers have been sat around for many months.

And the funny thing is i just retired a Cooit ECO ALC from a 1156 rig i5 860 that i did 9 years ago that was in a loft recording decently high bitrate cctv footage from 3 cameras and pegged 100% almost all of the time for the 9 years. About 5 years ago we discussed a service and probable upgrade but it never happened and hes moving now so wanted it dismantled and a new setup for the new place. Well known for being garbage and leaking but performed like day one before i binned it, sometimes luck really is weird. Barracude 500gb hdd had like 400+ reallocated sectors but kept on ticking too :D
