How long can the world ignore Tibet?

Judging by the 77 people who've read this without replying, I'd say the world will continue to ignore Tibet for a very long time.

It's sad, but is it more urgent than North Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, Darfur to name but four?

I have two friends in Nepal working to help Tibet as we speak. Its been going on a lot longer than people realise.

Tibet has no strategic or economic value. Case closed.

Or even that a large majority of the British public don't even support a campaign to remove one of the worst dictators ever, whom had killed more than a million innocent people. Or the removal of militant control in Afghanistan.

If I was the government I wouldn't hold out hope of the British public supporting any military action no matter how urgently is was needed.

Me? I would support any war that helped innocent people in any way possible. The sad thing is people can be selfish and content with the situation staying the same.

I find it beyond belief that the west tolerate China. It seems we turn a blind eye to their continual abuse of human rights because of their growing economic power. It seems the price of a human life is cheap consumer goods in the west.

Tibet isn't the only worry, since Tiananem Square, where arguably the real face of the Chinese leadership was revealed to the west, we have not only gotten more friendly with them. Bizzare.

I think it's just terrible how we ignore the people of that country. As the posts above have already said, had there been something that our own country needs/wants for itself we would have been in there immediately. :(

It'd be interesting to also view a Chinese world map...

Theres plenty of people 'in need' all across the world. I dont think its terrible at all that we 'ignore' their problems. We're not a global charity you know.

What exactly do you think the "world" should do? Who exactly in the "world" do you think would actually do anything about it?

A few strong words from the UNSC? UN Sanctions against China? Would either one of those two options (if they were to happen) actually achieve anything?

Edit:- If you're really interested they're showing TV footage of the incident on CNN. The Chinese Foreign Minister has promised to investigate.

You know if ever i had the power, i would love to get the entire world together, make a list of all the problems in the world and one by one fix them

For all the huffing and puffing over the israel, palestine, the mid east, the amounts of deaths there pale into insignificance compared to the atrocities in africa etc.

One by one lets all unite and make the world a little better.

But lets face it, it aint gonna happen.

They have nuclear weapons. Makes western governments very hesistant to be forceful with them over any subject.

And they also have an enourmous army. Military action to liberate Tibet would likely end in peril.

Plus, Tibet is one of the least hospitable regions in the world and very hard to reach by land...

Even harder to reach by sea!

What's tibet?
Do you mean where is it located? Or what it's crops are? Which peoples reside there?

Or have you actually no idea that Tibet is a region in Asia?

i think it was a joke..

We'll ignore them as long as we can't touch them I'm sure America will step up when they realise its higher ground for launching missiles or something else as world dominating like that.
