How long does a loan take to go through?

If i walk into a high street bank, how long would it take to actually get my hands on that money?

Last time I got a loan was a couple of years ago, it took about 20mins. The money was available straight away although the balance didn't show until a couple of hours later.

It was for £25k with HSBC if that helps.

Right away if it's approved. I went in spoke to my banking advisor, after discussing it, getting references, he transferred the money there and then.

That was £8K + interest, with HSBC.

My mrs did it online, she had the cash in <20mins after a phone call from the bank in question, that was for £10k.

There and then. A chat a few signatures and it was transferred into my account as we sat there.
