How long does a V5 take?

How long does the new V5 usually take to come through to you after the seller sends off his part of it when selling? I've had a fish around the DVLA site, and it's about as much use as a chocolate teapot...

judging by the 4 we are waiting for ages. seriously 2 to 3 weeks.

Yep, mine normally take 2-3 weeks.

I always send them off 'Recorded Delivery' though. V5's have a habit of going missing

i just got my v5 today, 3 weeks after buying the car.

Mine took 5 weeks. Seems they're a bit slow lately.

I think they say up to 6 weeks from when they receive it.

Give them a call and they should be able to tell you if they've received the old one yet and if the new one has been issued

Mine have usually taken less than 2 weeks.

Even one where in the same envelope was a transfer of ownership of two cars, the registered scrapping of one of them, the re-registration of another with the powerplant of the scrapped ones and a nice forwarding letter.

They were remarkably rapid! Just give them the information they need and the job will be done if all is in order
