Unfortunately I have no moneies for the gym, so I have purchased a couple of exercise bands which are on their way to me. (for both posture and strength).

I have also started the squat to 200 (bodyweight only) and 100 consecutive push up challenge.

Anyway, did the first day of the first week for the doms challenge

, did my 45 press ups, and that was that.

Lord almighty was I stiff the next day with aching muscles. And the next day. Even today my ribs and chest are tender. Not bad pain still what I would call dom pain.

Will this diminish with time? Eg a week or two of routine will see this go for good?

(I know pushups are not ideal but it feels better than doing nothing)

You'll get really bad DOMS for the first week or 2 at least and they can take up to a week to disappear, but there's no problem with training through them.

Thanks. I find it really hard to train, I have such low stamina. The 45 pressups were done in 10, 12, 7, 7, 9 (with 60 secs rest inbetween each set). I found it so ridiculously difficult towards the end. Surely the body should recover with a minute spare? :/

Squat doms are awesome. Normally get mine on Monday right in the Gluts. I feel like an old man.. Once I'm back in training, lifting around weights or warming up and stuff they pass. Keep the muscle moving and working is the key. It will pass.

I find foam rollers tend to help, although if you can afford a foam roller, I'd rather go to a gym to be fair. That said, there are great cheap alternatives. Get a 2L bottle fill it with something so it's relatively solid, and just roll it over your legs. For chest, I like to massage it out a little bit that evening. Tend to just use three fingers and rotate.

That said, DOMS will last anything between 1 day through a whole week.

200 rep squats?

You'd get far more benefit from doing single leg bodyweight stuff.

My vote would be deficit bulgarian split squats. If you think you've had DOMS before...

Stretching immediately after, even weighted stretching, (60seconds +) can help to reduce DOMS significantly. That said it's pretty damn painful.

I usually have DOMS for around 4 or 5 days per muscle when I've had a few weeks off then barely a thing until I have another week off and start again. Good Morning's are now the only exercise that gives me consistent DOMS and most people probably wouldn't do them anyway.
