How long does it take to learn to crack a whip?

No time at all to get a crack out of it.

It is however noisy, requires space and I'm not entirely sure it's ok to be slashing a whip about on public land so check that too.

Being good at it would take a long time.

practice with a wet towel first. Preferably in the locker room of the local gym. Also singing the Rawhide theme tune might help your technique.

A whip somehow appeared on the dance floor at a company party 15 years ago.

Cue me bending over and shouting at a girl to whip my ass. She didn't do very well so I said give me a shot.

First time with a whip ever. It cracked. She cried. People were shocked. I was mortified.

So yeah, easy if a drunk can pull it off first time :D
 
Someone gave me a Bullwhip when I was 8. I could crack it within an hour of using it. Very easy. It's all about the flick of the wrist as you strike.
