How long does your velcro last ?

I'm looking at new gloves for next year. Probably some all weather touring gloves. I've just binned some J&S £50 waterproof (ACTUALLY NOT WP) gloves after ~ 9 months of use. To give you an idea of use on them, I commute from end of March till around November as well as weekend fun runs and the velcro fell apart. Big chunks were missing from the wrist straps and they stopped sticking together.

Now bearing in mind these were £50, would the velcro on a pair at double the price hold up longer than 9 months ? Maybe Alpinestar or Richa.

What do you have and how long have they lasted ? or is 9 months about as good as it gets no matter what the price ?

Thanks 4T5. I was starting to think that buying new gloves was going to be a yearly expense like Tax, MOT and oil change.

If you're generally happy with the gloves then it wouldn't cost more than a few quid to get the velcro replaced at somewhere that does clothing alterations and repairs.

6 years is fantastic, how were they used ?

Cheers guys. I don't feel so bad about having to spend on a decent pair now knowing they will actually last. I'll do my shopping in March at the MCN Motorcycle Show in Edinburgh.
