Just installed X2 4200 and Freezer 64 PRO.

CPU temp idle is 43c which seems a little high to me.

How long should I give it before I reseat the CPU?
 
Reset the CPU?

It should be optimal from the very moment you put the paste on the CPU, to the first boot up.
 
when i built a couple of AM2 rigs with very similar processors and the same cooler a month ago, we were getting Idle temps of about 24c. yours sounds very high. improbably high, even.

though, is this a bios temp or a windows temp. On-die temp sensors are rearely accurate. yours might just be less accurate than normal.

Also, are you sure the cooler is properly attached? it might not be getting optimal contact.
