Hi,

If I go blow loads of money on DDR2 are they just going to release DDR3 in the near future? I'm planning an upgrade in the new year and want lots of memory!

Cheers.

Ant.

DDR3 is due soon isn't it? But I wouldn't hold out just for that. They're always releasing new stuff as soon as you shell out. 'tis life with PC's unfortuantely!

I don't know if I'm allowed to link to the site, but I've read an article that said something along the lines of Micron are currently sampling DDR3 and that it should first appear for desktops in late 2007. I'm not sure how long it will be for it to actually take off though.

Intel expect to release their new DDR3 boards in summer according to the Inq*

*yeah I know

It had better stay around for a fair while yet! I've only just grudgingly sold on my old Corsair 3500LLs, was sad to see them go.

last I knew AM3 will be with DDR3, and thats due out in 2008, don't no about Intel thou. When the new RAM comes out it will be a few years before it is the standard. so i'd say at a rough quess there's a good 2-3 if not more for DDR2 so no need to panic just yet.

if you worried so much about technology being out dated you'd still be running EDO-Ram , VLB Graphics and an SB-16 sound card!

Not to mention your DX2-50mhz co processor rig ;)

Edit: though you have to admit those were the days when DOOM seemed soooo coool!!!!!
