How long is memory going to stay cheap?

It'll probably waver around £5 per GB until DDR4 comes out, then slowly increase as production slows.

Now!

Quote from Gibbo - "We've ordered an additional 500 units but pricing has shot up massively due to Elpida in Japan going bankrupt this week which is resulting in all memory prices going up globally"

Supposedly Elpida has gone bankrupt earlier this week, they were a major manufacturer of memory chips in Japan.

Everyday since my pricing from Corsair, Kingston and G.Skill has risen.

Yeah as mentioned above, the fact that Elpida went bankrupt made the DDR3 prices shoot up overnight. They have settled back down again, but prices are probably going to be on the increase for a little while.

Basically if you want DDR3 for anything buy it now, as it's unlikely it's going to get any cheaper.

Yes I agree. Took the opportunity to buy another 8gb set of patriot signature stuff. Do I need it? No. However thought I'd fill my boots while it stays cheap. Can always use it in a future project if necessary though.

I am looking at building a system based about Ivy Bridge? I am hoping this will be released in May time.

Should I buy my ram now?? If so what would be the best stuff to get in a 2 x 4gb configuration?
