How long should I expect a package from Latvia to take?

I ordered something through a rainforest marketplace seller. It turns out its being dispatched from Latvia which I had no idea about, and even looking through the listing / seller information now, I can see nothing that suggests that would be the case...

I ordered it 29/7 and it was marked as dispatched on 30/07

They have provided me with a tracking number in the following format; RSxxxxxxxxxLV it was sent "Carrier: Latvia post". The tracking number looks like it should work in the royal mail tracker, but it just states;

"Item: RSxxxxxxxxxLV
from Latvia
Status: Please try again.
The reference number you have entered may be incorrect. Please check and try again. Find out more about tracking reference numbers.
Information on your International Tracked item is not yet available."

Should I be thinking about opening a Paypal dispute in the next couple of days? Or does it just take a while to come from Latvia? Estimated delivery was given as "Arriving 3 Jul - 23 Jul" which is kind of a wide window lol.

You'd only bother disputing it after the 23rd July.

IME stuff from Poland and Bulgaria takes about two weeks, stuff from China up to a month, sometimes quicker.


This kind of thing annoys Chinese sellers, because they hate getting negative feedback from westerners who expect everything the next day.

I really wish America would use whatever parcel system the Chinese do, to get something from China is a few pence, to get anything from America is often over $120.
All that lovely HP/Agilent gear going to waste

Yeah, I guess. I saw the estimated delivery dates when I ordered, so I don't really wave a right to complain yet.

As long as it comes by then I don't regret it, it was silly cheap . It is annoying though as I've got other bits ready to go and I'm just waiting on this

Yeah, tried that, no dice. It doesn't seem to be the right format for that anyway. If you choose the international post option, it links you to the royal mail site.

I've sent a polite e-mail chasing the package up and asking if the tracking number was correct.

It arrived today

Royal mail man left it outside in the rain behind my wheelie bin from 11:15 untill I got back from work 10 mins ago...

It seams ok. Box is the tiniest bit damp.
