My 14 month old 360 has just gone pop. 3 red rings of death. Had a few game lockups over the past week while playing online but put it down to being online. Then went for a game of Rainbow 6 this afternoon. Game locked up. Turned the 360 back on, and it froze on the boot screen making a horrible noise.
Turned off and then the 3 red rings.
Luckily i purchased 2yrs extended warranty 3 weeks ago as my warranty ran on early feb.

Phoned microsoft and they said return it to them.
Couple of questions

1) They said their email system was taking a right bashing so would probally have to send the label via post (5-7 days!). I told them to try via email 1st and if email doesnt arrive by monday will have to try via post. How long did it take to receive your email with the return label attatched?.

2) After you sent the 360 back how long did it take for a replacement to be returned to you?. Microsoft said about 15 days!!!??. I cant wait this long!.

Email came the next day, even on a saturday.

New xbox came by the thursday.

Both times I returned mine, from pick up to return was 4 days even over xmas.

I thought Microsoft were covering all xbox's with a manufacturers date before 01/01/06 with an extended warranty as they know of issues that can cause them to fail.....

I had mine replaced out of warranty (bought it on launch day and I sent it away end of January this year)....

They said it was free of charge

This also happened to a mate of mine and they replaced it for free

Only in USA as their standard warranty is 90 days

Yeah it was only in the US.
Some people have had their release day consoles replaced free of charge out of warranty but most havent.
£60 well spent by myself for the extended 2yrs warranty.
After 14months use I thought mine was rock solid, just goes to show though.
Im still waiting for the return label to be emailed to me, no sign as yet.

Gave up on the return label email. Just called them and they are sending it out via post, said their email system is in all sorts of trouble.
