how long to receive new v5

purchased a new s/h car on 4/1 from a dealer

dealer gave me the slip and sent off the main document

how long roughly untill i receive the new v5 in my name (nothing received yet)

Mine on average seem to take about 2 working weeks to come back

Depends on how busy the DVLA are though, did have one that took 4. I wouldn't worry too much, it'll turn up!

need it for proof of ownership for residents parking...my temporary permit is running out soon

i had them take under a week to over a month. Not sure if its slow sellers or DVLA

It's good enough to tax the car so should be enough to get your parking permit.

While on the subject of V5's:

I bought a car in december and the dealer used the new owner slip to tax it for me. He didn't send it off as I have it with me.

However when I sent the V5 off with my details its come back with dealer being the previous owner instead of the last private owner. All my details are correct but I'm a bit annoyed that I have an extra owner on it who held the car for about a week.

Do they automatically update the details at the post office or something as the dealer says he didn't send anything off. :confused:

thanks - sounds like the council should be happy with the slip (for some reason i imagined they would want too see the main v5 document)
