It used to be that people recommended you run a new CPU at stock for a bit before overclocking. Is this still the case with Sandy Bridge CPU's and if so how long?
Start at 4GHz by just chaging the CPU ratio (disabling Turbo for a full time 4GHz) or setting the four Turbo ratios to 40X so you keep the power saving feature.
Stress test it with Prime95 for a few hours or running Intel burntest for say 20+ runs.
Then reach for 45X and maybe a touch more Vcore to make it stable if it crashes.
