Probably moving to virgin for net soon as cancel date for bt and isp is 15th of dec.

Wondering if anyone knows how long it takes from signing up to being online with virgin.

Varies on the area / time of the year / how busy they are etc.
I'd be ordering now and telling them the 15th Dec and see if they can do it.

Btw anyone know if i do get it and its a crap speed or disconects a lot can i ask for my money back and cancel? I read about a 28 day money back thing but im not sure on the details of it. Is broadband only 30mb package ok for the policy or just bundles like 2 or more packages.

Just i cant see them refunding installation if i end up paying for it initially if i cancel due to the service not what i expected from it etc due to them installing the cable and all sorts. Im hoping tho to get installation free due to refer a friend a mate might do for me.

If you are getting cable it wont disconnect unless there is a fault VM's end.
In comparison to ADSL it rock solid stable with no fluctuations sync speed.

Throughput however can be a lottery, some areas are oversubscribed, some aren't. Although on the 30-100Mb tiers it's less of a problem than on the older tiers.

Good news:

"The legal stuff
Money back guarantee: The 28-day money back guarantee is available for new cable customers and existing cable customers taking a new service. Call us within 28 days of service activation to cancel and we'll refund the first month's charge and any installation charge. You will only be charged for transactions (calls, texts, purchases, service upgrades) occurring after activation. Statutory rights not affected."

Well had a mate use refer a friend thing for free install and he gets £50.

Virgin rang today. Told em about topcashback up to £62 and they counter offered along with free install i would get £30 off first bill. Made sure its a 12 month contract not 18 as i was worried they would bump the contract up by giving me more deals i.e the £30 for first month. Told em about the green cabinet up the road open and exposed and said they will sort it but told me the closer one would be used for me as theres one half way up my road which is fine and another one at the end of my road which is open.

Getting it installed on 5th dec. The first bill would normally be £47 in Jan he said but it should be £17 for me due to the £30 im getting off.

Got 28 days money back thing so if i see packet loss or high pings etc i can always just say no and thats it.
