Seen as Isohunt has been taken down with a $110 mill lawsuit, I wonder how long until Google gets sued and sent a cease and deceist? That would be laughable.

Seriously can the MPAA and the RIAA get any more greedy? They don't even give the proceeds to the people who created the content, just keep it for themselves!!*

*I could be wrong on this?

a) you aren't wrong
b) they won't be getting anything close to $110M anyway, last i read it was going to be nearer $2M, so it's all ridiculous.

brb shortage of alternatives, MPAA winning the war on piracy.

I am not sure how much you can talk about piracy here, but there is a site with a .eu domain that allows you to index all of them^ in one go.

However they are slowly either being killed off by the MPAA and co, or blocked by the UK ISP.

Edit: Roughly half of that list is blocked in the UK at ISP level.

The future is a state-controlled Internet. Like China's.

You might not believe it now, but the copyright industry will keep lobbying until this becomes reality. And MPs have a ready-made rallying cry to do it - "Protect the children!"

Unless society as we know it collapses before then...

Napster went down some 10-12 years back.
... another 10 peer-2-peer programs surfaced.

Pirate Bay went down.
... another 10 torrent sites surfaced.

ISO hunt now goes down.
... and another 10 torrent sites will surface.

Resistance is futile. (still, I buy my CDs... too old a fart to do purchased downloads except for Steam games but gutted to lose our Stafford HMV for their £4 Hospitality d'n'b' mix albums)

I know a lot of people get put off buying DVD's because of the anti piracy ads. It is so ironic.

Buy DVD, drive home. Put into DVD player. Watch 25 minutes of adverts about upcoming movies. Then 10 min of normal adverts. Then 10 min of anti piracy adverts. Enjoy film.

vs.

Find torrent, download torrent, watch full movie with no adverts at all.

Now, if they reversed this somehow I am sure piracy would drop quite a bit!

Anyone who thinks this is actually about stopping piracy is, well, wrong.

It's just a simple money maker if you think about it.

On a side note I would be interested to see if the sales of Music/Films have gone up in correlation with Piracy sites being taken down?

Well it's not going to magically put HMV vouchers into the pirate's pocket :p, so I doubt it.

Probably declined as a lot of people like to download before they buy.

You are talking nonsense.

- Not all DVDs have a piracy warning advert on them, infact its not that common these days aside from the standard copyright warning card that pops up.

- The film trailers are not 25 minutes long.

- There are not regular commercials on them, infact the only place I've seen them are on rental videos. One key reason being is that they date so fast that they are pointless.

- When film trailers do come on, you can either fast forward the lot, or you can often just press menu, or now some DVD/Blurays are coming out with a 'Skip Trailers' in a menu bar at the bottom of the screen. Saw this last week on Ironman 3 I think it was.

- You can watch a film on the likes of LoveFilm instantly and legally without having to sit through any adverts or have to download something first.

Have to agree, i rarely bother with films nowadays anyway but its really annoying when you go out, buy a film then sit through 5 minutes of ''piracy is theft'' messages, then 15 minutes of trailers.

Why are they even bothering putting them on the dvd's?
People with no interest in piracy don't care for the messages - its annoying
Pirates can just rip them out - so its completely pointless.

Although it sounds like things have changed since the last time i bothered with a movie.

Where have i been, i didnt even now isohunt had been removed till reading this thread. Damn isohunt was a good site. Where to now?
