How long until OLED becomes a viable option?

I've had TN, IPS and VA panels, they all have their problems, but among those VA is my favourite technology.

Deep blacks and nice contrast make up for the less accurate colours (compared to IPS), but ghosting is still an issue.

Five years ago I would've thought OLED would've been with us already - the LG65 inch TV at a reasonable price is a great start - how long do you think until we get a super-wide OLED gaming monitor?
The G/Free sync 34" ones coming out are pretty much a dream come true, but you still have to make compromises going the IPS route.

Go out and drop a grand on a new monitor and I guarantee the next day an OLED will be unveiled :p

Be my luck anyway...

In all seriousness it is one of the things I'm hoping to hear something on in 2016 - due an upgrade but nothing out there has all the bells and whistles that I want/need.

It just seems that every monitor on the market has a caveat - with the possible exception of the Acer XR Predator X34 and that IS a grand!

If you want a high refresh rate you have to compromise on panel tech, if you want excellent colours you have to compromise on refresh rate and IPS glow in the case of IPS/PLS panels and as you already said, ghosting on the VA panels.

And then there's the Gsync/Freesync can of worms...

' The monitor should be released at the tail end of March with an initial price of $4999. ' i think i stay with one i got for now ^_^
