How long will a agp6800gs last?

Hi all,

I'm posting because I really want my pc to last at least another year and a half. On 3dmark06(vista), 3000+, 1.5 ddr400 I get 1700 on default settings which im sure is terrible. However, Im still able to play games like armed assault, company of heroes very well. Will I be able to play later games like Crysis, Brothers in arms hells highway on my system? I ask because I dont want to spend money on the games which I wont be able to play very well. I feel bad when I do a 3dmark06 benchmark and someone scores 20,000 above me! I would upgrade but I dont think now is the right time at the moment.

I'm planning on upgrading my 6800GT to a mid-range 8000 series card when they get released. However, I could probably hold off and keep using what I've got for a while yet.

But I would always have to turn off AA, AF, use 1280 as the max res, etc. Since buying an XBox360 I've discovered how much nicer games look with a decent GPU. Bascially, Gears of War makes everything I've played on my 6800GT look second rate.

As for Crysis, I'm sure they wouldn't make it unplayable on a 6800GT. After all, that's around average for the non-enthusiast gamer to have in their machine. But it certainly wouldn't look good or play at high frame-rates.

Its fine for now unless you want dualmonitor gaming like in supreme commander.
I'm sure i read (according to dev) crysis ran fine on a 1900xt on mid-high settings so on low 6800gs should run it.
I think it'll last for 1 more year perhaps, for lowest graphics settings ingame, but after that i think 6xxx series will be dieing...
