How long will AM4 processors remain available.

3000 chips seem to be getting thin, if you need any of those I’d be tempted to buy them. 5000 chips seem to be available.

Seem to be plenty 5000 series turing up on members market. Grab one while you can to enjoy the benefits now.
I doubt the cpus will go up in price now since entry level next gen stuff wipes the floor with older gen stuff.

Yeah I personally still have a 1700 and looking to buy a 5700 or similar. While the 1700 does all that I need, a drop in 5700 would be a good option to future proof as I did replace my POS Asus board a year or so back and the newer MSI supports it.

AMD said they were going to continue to support AM4 along side AM5, so I dont think they are going to run thin anytime soon, they've also just released a new AGESA for AM4 aimed towards the 5800X3D

I'm still hoping for a 6nm Zen3+ refresh, it would be a cheap EOL upgrade for the platform and a great way to close a legendary generation.

do you still believe in santa?
it would be nice but i cant see it, the will continue to make 5000 chips till they run out of dies. your not going to EOL a produced if you still have thousands of chiplets.
also the out lay to go AM5 right now is massive so they know AM4 will remain relevant for a 1 or maybe 2

They're still making older zen for some use cases, imho it's not impossible they will try to target laggards with one last budget upgrade, likely after most of this gen sales projections are filled.

So you can now see why that was a decent saving then? As there's a fair bit of a difference in price between an X3D and a 5700X isn't there.

Yes if buying new there is a big price difference, but I have never is 25 years needed a cpu warranty. You could have saved £70 just getting a used 5700x

It would be awesome but has anyone done this before or is it just a pipe dream? Off the top of head I don't remember anyone bringing in a new range once a platform has been superceded, they'd worry about cannibalising sales on the new platform.

5700X is a really nice CPU upgrade from a 1700X.

When I looked 2nd hand ones on ebay without a box were the price of my new one lol. The cheapest ocuk have them is £210 and I got mine Please read the rules posted next day. that's already £30 less than a good price from oc-uk, and they were what £279.99 not long before xmas?
I don't have access to the marketplace on here either and there was none for sale on the other forums 2nd hand...
