How long will it last?

No sure where to ask this but here goes.

I have an Edimax 3G router, 6200N and want to power it from a battery for a long car journey.

I have a 12v 4.5Ah battery from my lawnmower and I have tried it and it powers it great, I was wondering how long it will last?

The power adaptor says 12v 1A which means its 12 watts max power draw then? Also, if it does draw 1A, will the battery therefore last 4.5 hours?

I would have thought it wouldnt draw 1A, maybe 0.5A? And therefore last 9 hours?

not sure about the question your asking, but could you not power it from the cigarette lighter with an adapter of some sort?

It will be in a minibus, and will be a lot easier if It can be independant from the bus.

What im asking is, how long will a 4.5Ah Battery power my 3G Router?

the 4.5Ah means the battery can supply 4.5 amps fdor 1 hr or 1 amp for 4.5 hrs

Any idea on what the actual power draw of my router will be? I'm sure that it wont draw the maximum capacity of the power supply. Possibly 60% ? So draw about 0.6A?

If the power draw is 0.6A, the battery will last 4.5/0.6 = 7.5 Hours

Just tried it out, with 2 wireless devices connected and 3G stick it draws 0.32A which is nice
