I'm currently putting away £100 a month so that I can upgrade as I go. That's probably overkill. But Im going to be needing a 4K monitor and a new gpu at some point in the next 12 months. A "1080Ti" or vega equivalent and a 4K monitor will probably wipe me out to be fair. Going by the way GPU prices are. So would it be daft sticking a 1080Ti in with my 4690K. Or will it be OK for a few years yet? I have considered the 1440p / 1440pUW route but as at least 60% of what I do is sitting watching youtube videos lol. I don't think I would benefit from the upscaling from 1080p to a 1440p screen. Or the black bars on the UW. Whereas the 4K should scale better. And I can watch 4K stuff. And hopefully the 1080Ti will give a good stab at 4K gaming.

Interesting.
Room size is tricky. Comp is in the living room. Wife watches the TV while I mess about on my PC. (Don't care for bake-off....)
As for gaming. Here's the thing. Im 34 now, so don't play "seriously", certainly not twitch based COD type games. I play, GTAV, Skyrim, FSX, Cities skylines, Assasins creed, RUST and other indie titles. fun things like that.
The most FPS type game I play would be rust. But like I said I'm not a serious player and don't expect to be the best or have lightning reactions. Hell, I play with others and dying is just part of the fun. I'm not in any serious gaming or clans. To this end, I've always found 60fps to be absolutely fine for me. Hell, I'm not even bothered by dips into the low 50 fps. 40's is where I start to notice. As I'm happy gaming in the 50fps range (across all games) I think 1080Ti + 4K would be good for me. As I ADORE slick graphics. I just love games that look beautiful. Much more than getting over 60fps appeals to me. So (probably going against the norm here) I would much prefer to have gorgeous graphics on a big 4K screen at 50fps. Than 1440p graphics at say 100FPS.

If you aren't that bothered by 40-50fps then a (theoretical) 1080ti won't be a problem at 4K for awhile yet - I can mostly manage that with my 1070 without too much in the way of visual sacrifice if any.

40-50 isn't great. I notice it, in GTA V in grass I notice it and it makes me look up at the counter and I see it's in the 40's. At no other times do I notice anything that makes me look at the counter. So I can deduce that anything >50fps appears smooth to me.
