I bought a bundle from a friend last year, including:
I5 3570k, gb Z77-DH3, 8gb's ram and a Radeon 7870 gpu. All for £100 xD

Just wanted to know a little about my specific CPU. And a few things.

How long would this CPU last for?
PC is used just for gaming.

How comes it's still so expensive?
When there are so many newer chips since this one?

lastly, I am going to replace my GPU, is it worth upgrading the MOBO along with it, to a newer 1155 socket MOBO?

Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

You should get at least another two or three years out of that chip. The performance improvements on newer chips are that small you'd barely notice them in games. Board should be fine too, a gpu upgrade is probably all you really need for gaming.

Just to clarify when you say how long will it last, do you mean till it stops working/worn out or do you mean how long will it be able to play current games performance wise ?

If you mean the former it will last a very long time if you mean so that you can play games comfortably like has been said a few years yet.

As to keeping up with games etc I would expect it to still be good 3-4 years down the line. We still have people gaming on here with Q9550's on socket 775.

Lifetime wise, it will not stop working anytime soon. I still have a socket 754 AMD 64 3400+ going strong in a pc here.

Prices are so high new because they are not made anymore and there are still people who want to upgrade from a lesser cpu and are willing to pay the price.

Same setup as that! Great build and will last me at least another 2-3 years hoping for 4 lol, have no bottlenecks now I've overclocked :)

The 3570K will overclock like a mother... at least that's how it was sold to me by someone I know and trust, with a proven OC record, anyway! :D
It'll do 4.5GHz under an H100 without even getting out of bed, with the record being over 7GHz.
