Some people still use AMD XP's

Depends what your minium needs are

I'd be more than happy with that as a new PC!

you just ordered a Socket 939??

anyway, i think a Socket 754 A64 should suffice and still able to use Vista as well..

it's all a personal thing, i'm running a c2d e6700 and an 8800 gtx and i know i'll be upgrading in 18 months or less even though i know it'll still be a very capable system. if you don't want to max everything all the time then it'll last you well if you do (like me) you'll be pining for the 8950 or whetever nvidia has planned in the future and you'll want to go for a c2d before long!

Now i added a 8800GTS the old sytem fly`s , i have notice the difference big time , the FX 57 handles no problems maybe i should have gone for the GTX version :) , wish i could get some better memory ?

Trouble with computers , they all ways on the move , thats why its not always good to spend mega money , my new system will have to last me .

Look in sig............Im hopeing mine will last a few years yet, if i get 2gb mem and either the 8800gtx or the ati r600 sometime this year... But Im not in any rush for a new card cos all my games run fine atm.

im one of them

incredibly reliable machines (touch wood)

perfect for everything i do
video encodes browse internet watch dvds gamble :)

i regularly consider upgrading but as i dont play pc games
i dont think id even notice the difference in speed

fx57 should be fine for about another 5 years (if you dont game)

Im an athlon xp man :D

My machines getting a bit long in the tooth now though, I want to upgrade but driving lessons are costing me quite a lot and without a job I have no chance lol.

*cries*/*feels retro with his 'old skool' pc*

not quite as bad as Wolvotim, but im still using:
Athlon XP 2200+
Asus A7V333
1024mb PC2700 ddr (2 x 256, 1x 512 sticks)
ATi 9800Pro :D
Creative Sb2
19" Syncmaster 957DF CRT

It runs BF2 (sort of :P) but takes about 10 mins to load up a 64 player map :o

and i tend to get kicked for Idleing before i've even got into the game

But very soon to ***** about £1500-1750 on a new tower :D (then monitor in a month or 2 :) )

In other words your system will last years.... but you'll get sick and tired of waiting :P
