Yes this is a slightly strange thread in that I've already bought the food, but to be honest I was in a little bit of a rush because:

A- I had no food in the house, so was having to buy food from a ridiculously overpriced union coop.

B- I got a deal from Tesco for £20 off my order, so it took the sting out of it all.

Anyway, reasons for buying the food aside, I'm looking to make it last a long time (don't mind buying other things to compliment it), and to have some decent meals for a change.

So, based on the below shopping order, how long would you say the food will last me, and can you give me tips on how to make it last and what meals to make.

Thank you.

My main desire is to waste as little as I can. To that end I reckon I can stick everything in the freezer and use the meats and cheese as required.

The veg on the other hand......

(I don't usually eat veg, it's part of my resolve to eat better!)

Oh yes of course. I meant after cooking them, freeze in portions. You'll get more money for value by making a few portions and freezing, rather than cooking just one portion and cooking everyday.
It also means if you have a busy day and don't have time to cook, you can just take out a portion at the beginning of the day and put it in the fridge. Then when you want to eat all you need to do is microwave it for a few minutes.

Just an observation, you could say a lot of money by skipping the Pringles and bottled water. :)

Plus those spices/toothpaste etc will last a while so you'll save money next time.

Veg soup and it can be frozen

Freeze meat until close to use by date, then batch cook, then freeze and it should keep for 3-9 months depending on the type of meat and ingredients etc.

Could make a stew based around the following.

Sausages
Maris Piper Potatoes
Carrots
Tinned Tomatoes
Herbs
Mushrooms although I'd put these in a bit later than the rest of the stuff.

The BBC GoodFood website is a good read for recipe ideas.

I know people are saying soup, but I do tend to find that it's not the most filling thing in the world...

Stew is a good shout though, and if you have a device that supports BigOven it's absolutely great for working out what to do with random leftovers.
